THE STORY
When I was young, my grandmother, Carol, was diagnosed with a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Before her passing at age 52, I spent nearly every afternoon making music with her at an assisted living home. My mother's training as a music therapist allowed us to volunteer our time in the most meaningful way I could imagine.
At times when my grandmother could no longer remember most things – including my own name – I discovered the nature of music as a language more powerful than the spoken word. I cherished the hours making music by her side, watching her face light up to the sound of familiar melodies. Music gave us an irreplaceable bond for which I am forever grateful.
As I reflect on that time, I remember my grandmother and the other residents pleading for "just one more song" before we left each evening. There never seemed to be enough time in each day to fulfill every heartfelt plea, hence the inspiration for this album...
To my grandmother and all of the other residents,
this is your 'one more song.'
